June 7: Shavuot (Pentecost)

– The Two Witnesses

When God broke down the wall of division between Jews and Gentiles, He never obliterated or changed the distinctness of the people.  Jews never became non-Jews (Gentiles) nor did Gentiles ever become Jews.  Neither did men become women or women become men.  We are different but equal.

While the Jews and Gentiles remained distinctively different, God had the same mission and purpose for His One New Man.  When the Holy Spirit descended and indwelled all the redeemed, (both Jews and Gentiles), the church, – the Kingdom community was empowered to be God’s witness to the world.

Both Zechariah and the Apostle John mentioned the two witnesses who would speak God’s word during “end times.”  Could it be that Zechariah’s two olive trees are symbolic for the two witnesses in John’s Revelation – Redeemed Israel and the Church?

Zechariah 4:1-3, 14

Now the angel who talked with me came back and wakened me, as a man who is wakened out of his sleep. And he said to me, “What do you see?”

So I said, “I am looking, and there is a lampstand of solid gold with a bowl on top of it, and on the stand seven lamps with seven pipes to the seven lamps. Two olive trees are by it, one at the right of the bowl and the other at its left.”

So he said, “These are the two anointed ones, who stand beside the Lord of the whole earth.”

Revelation 11:4

These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands standing before the God of the earth.

PRAY THAT THE CHURCH WILL UNDERSTAND AND ACCEPT THE UNIQUE RELATIONSHIP GOD HAS WITH ISRAEL.

The two witnesses of Zechariah 4.
