June 12: Jacob’s Trouble: God’s unique relationship with Israel.

Vengeance for Zion’s cause

God has a unique relationship with Israel. This relationship has been a blessing and privilege but as we’ve seen, it also demands great responsibility.

The Lord God of Israel considers this relationship very personal. Israel and the Jewish people are the “apple of His eye.”

Deuteronomy 32:9-11

For the Lord’s portion is His people;
Jacob is the place of His inheritance.

“He found him in a desert land
And in the wasteland, a howling wilderness;
He encircled him, He instructed him,
He kept him as the apple of His eye.
As an eagle stirs up its nest,
Hovers over its young,
Spreading out its wings, taking them up,
Carrying them on its wings.” (NKJV)

God takes very personally any attack on the Jewish people very personally!

Isaiah 34:8

For it is the day of the Lord’s vengeance,

The year of recompense for the cause of Zion. (NKJV)

PRAY FOR YOUR CHURCH AND YOUR NATION TO OBEY GOD’S WORD AND HONOR HIS LOVE FOR ISRAEL.

Henk Drogt was a military policeman in The Netherlands. He and his fellow police refused to round up Jews in their area. All were arrested but he escaped and worked in hiding to save down allied pilots and Jews. He was finally arrested and tried. He was executed.
Prior to his execution at 24, he wrote his fiancé and family that he would miss them, “but the Lord wanted differently.”see more at Yad Vashem.org/righteous/stories
