June 1: Shavuot (Pentecost)

– God’s Gifts – the Torah & the Spirit

Jewish tradition says God gave Israel the Law on Shavuot but there is no biblical proof for this most important event in Israel’s history.  Religious Jews stay up all night reading the Torah so that they will be ready to welcome the Torah at sunrise the next day!

Today many religious and some Messianic Jews revere the Torah so much that they even dance and kiss it during the holiday of Simcha Torah (rejoicing in the Torah).

While the Torah is a gift from God giving us valuable instructions for life, the greater gift is the Word that became flesh and wrote the Torah on our hearts by the Holy Spirit.

John 1:14a

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.

Acts 2:1-4

When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

PRAY ALL ISRAEL WILL RECOGNIZE AND REVERE YESHUA, THE WORD THAT BECAME FLESH.
