This Psalm could have been written by King David as he ran away from his beloved city, being chased by his own son Absalom! Whoever the author, the psalmist took courage knowing that God would never forsake him or Zion.
God chose Israel to be His witness so the nations would know, love and trust Him. To be His witness was not only to bring His Word and His Messiah to the nations, but also to be an example and reflection of His character.
Some people believe that when God issued Israel divorce papers, that it would be forever (Isaiah 50:1). But God never breaks His covenant relationship with Israel.
