August 26: God’s unique relationship with Israel

The Fear of the Lord – The result of cleansing

God chose Jerusalem as the city where He would put His name. It was and remains a destiny for no other city: past, present or future.

The privilege would come with great responsibility, Israel had to steward the city in holiness. Sadly they failed. Although there is a growing remnant of God-fearers, Israel still flaunts her rebellion and sin in this cherished city.

God had to and will have to discipline Israel and cleanse the city to prepare for His return.

In the midst of the warning of discipline, God made a promise, a promise that He will fulfill.

Jeremiah 32:36-40

“Now therefore, thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning this city of which you say, ‘It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, by the feminine, and by the pestilence’: Behold, I will gather them out of all countries where I have driven them in My anger, in My fury, and in great wrath; I will bring them back to this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely. They shall be My people, and I will be their God; then I will given them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me forever, for the good of them and their children after them. And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from doing them good; but I will put My fear in their hers so that they will not depart from me.

PRAY FOR ISRAEL TO RECEIVE THE DISCIPLINE AND THE PROMISE OF THE LORD.
